Nomadonwheels: Welcome Home Wilson

I left Frankfurt and headed north, I set my GPS to avoid all Toll, Interstates and highways, of course its takes a little longer but driving through the country is way better than the hum of my Ruta 40 knobbly front tyre on the boring highways.

Wilson has arrived in his country of birth...now if I can just find his parents I will give him back, could be like the Russian adoptee that was just put on a plane and sent home, Wilson wouldn’t be happy as I now realise that recently he has developed an unnatural bond to me, for me Wilson is just a machine.

A week in Germany has already passed and I have yet to find my coffee, there seems to be a prevalence of push button machines even in places promoting themselves to be cafes? I had to laugh as one placed I stopped and asked for a double espresso, I suddenly turned while I was waiting only to see milk pouring into the espresso cup, I then looked at the woman and she was cursing as she realised she had pushed the wrong button!

I find myself camping 30 metres from the Berlin wall...on a boat! Who would have guessed? I happened to be passing from East to West Germany (As you do) and I spied a hostel boat from the bridge, I had already been to about six hostels....some of the staff in one hostel were in shocked when I asked to put my bike in reception, one girl actually had the look on her face as if I had asked for her“First Born” I did explain that it was very common in the Americas which fell on deaf (I say Dumb) ears!..Most of the hostels were full of people who actually plan their trips as opposed to people like me who show up and hope for the best...ha-ha you over planning people out there...Accommodation in Berlin for 13 Euro...oh yeah....just a few more quid than camping!

The amazing thing I find about riding a motorcycle is the oportunity to smell everything...that's a good and bad thing sometimes, the other day a tractor pulled out in front of me towing a trailer and all I could smell was a sweet delicious waft up my nose of strawberries....actually in some villages I actually swear I can smell the cooking of schnitzel!!

Well once again my bike is at BMW for repairs, I had a water pump installed in Argentina and it has done around 25 hours, it has now started leaking again so I am stuck in Berlin for a few days, lucky its such an interesting city, once I get the bike back I will head towards Poland the 16th country on my trip.
